George Chittenden

Clarinet

George Chittenden was drawn to the passion and drive expressed in the music and dance of the Balkans and Near East as a teenager in the 70s. He has lived and studied extensively abroad, traveling to remote corners of Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey to work with local musicians and to experience the social contexts in which music plays such a central role. George keeps busy performing for ethnic communities in the Bay Area, as well as performing and traveling with the ensembles Édessa, Mediterranean Soul and the newly launched zurna/davul ensemble Tak Tak Boom.
