Bequests

Bequest gifts to the EEFC are an easy way to make a lasting impact on the future of our community. Someday a dance line will form, an instrument will be picked up, or a voice will lift in song because of what you do today. If you have already included a bequest for the EEFC in your estate plan, please contact us—we’d love to thank you. If you’re considering a bequest, let us help you think it through.

Why make a bequest?

  • They’re personal. Bequests create a lasting and personal legacy for yourself or a loved one.
  •

  • They’re flexible. Bequests cost you nothing now and can be changed at any time, so you can always take care of your loved ones first.
  •

  • They’re smart. Your bequest may make you eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction, which can reduce the tax burden on your family.

How do I begin?

Contact Development Committee member Jerry Kisslinger by email or by phone (347-205-1905) to discuss your ideas. We’d love to work with you and your attorney to design a gift that best matches your interests with the EEFC mission. Please be in touch if you have any questions about how to start your journey.

  1. Work with your experts. This page provides only general gift, estate, and financial planning information. It is not intended as legal, accounting, or other professional advice. Donors should always consult their tax and financial advisors for specific recommendations and planning services. Consult an attorney if your plans may require the revision of a will or related document.
  2.

  3. When you create a bequest: please consider making an unrestricted gift that provides the EEFC with the most flexibility for the future. If you do choose to designate a specific purpose for the gift, please consider including a provision that enables the EEFC to use your gift in other ways related in spirit should it no longer be possible to use your gift as originally intended.

Please note: Due to the small size of our organization and limited staffing, we cannot accept gifts of real estate or personal property at this time.
